Mount Bullion Conservation Camp #39 is a minimum-security prison located in Mariposa, California. This facility is operated by the California Department of Corrections. The camp commander is Lieutenant C. Dean. There are currently 9 staff and 82 inmates with a capacity of 110.

Prior to October 2004, Mt. Bullion Conservation Camp #29 was a Youth Camp. In October of 2004, Mount Bullion was converted to an Adult Conservation Camp. Many modifications were made to existing structures to accommodate the 110 inmate capacity population.

Inmates are placed according to their custody level which is determined at intake. There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates. The mission of Mount Bullion Conservation Camp #39 is to promote the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never return to prison and thus lower the state’s recidivism rate.

Inmates at this facility volunteer by making wood projects, jewelry, and drawings in support of various holiday community improvement projects and fundraisers for the Mariposa Safe Families. Around 18 inmates are involved in the Hobby Project.

Religious Services are available to all inmates. Mt. Bullion has weekly alcoholic anonymous and narcotics anonymous meetings with an average attendance of ten inmates. Inmates who attend twelve straight meetings receive a certificate of participation.

Educational programs consist of the GED Program which meets three times a week. Coast Line Community College offers a variety of courses to inmates. College classes are usually offered in the fall and spring semesters.

Inmates are allowed recreation time each day where they can go outside or play sports.

The kitchen staff and prison trustees are responsible for preparing meals. Inmates are given three meals a day, along with snacks from the commissary. All meals are approved by a dietician.
