The Colorado State Prison Complex Eyman Complex consists of eight different units. Today’s unit is known as the Colorado Correctional Center – Camp George West. Just like every other state facility within Colorado, the Colorado Department of Corrections is the agency responsible for maintaining and operating Colorado Correctional Center – Camp George West along with 12 other state facilities.
The Colorado Correctional Center – Camp George West is a maximum-security prison that houses 150 inmates. During the orientation and intake process, the facility will assess and test the inmates’ mental ability, mental health, physical and medical needs, and evaluate any treatment programs the inmate may require. The facility is comprised of seven units: The North unit, East unit, West unit, South Unit, Segregation unit, Overflow unit, and the Treatment unit. The North unit is where orientation and reception inmates are first housed. Each unit houses a certain type of offender and is tailored to meet the specific needs of the inmate.
