Danbury Federal Prison is also commonly referred to as the Danbury Federal Prison. The Danbury Federal Prison is known as a low-security federal correctional facility that is nestled in Danbury, Connecticut.

Alongside the main campus here at the Danbury Federal Prison, there is also a nearby minimum-security satellite prison camp that the campus is responsible for.

This prison camp is responsible for the custody of 180 offenders while the main campus is responsible for just over 1061 offenders.

The Danbury Federal Prison is situated on 98 acres of land.

You should know that the facility has three open bay style housing units. One of the housing units is used by the camp and the other two is used by the main campus.

The main campus is encompassed with razor wire fences alongside electronic surveillance equipment.

Danbury Federal Prison has partnered with College to provide many great educational courses. The Danbury Federal Prison provides courses that helps inmates in:

  • General Studies

  • Electrical

  • Business Administration

  • Engineering

All offenders in the facility can earn their GED while they are behind bars.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates not only can receive letters, but they can also receive newspapers, magazines and books. All books are required to be paperback and new. All publications are required to be from the store or the publisher. You are not permitted to send anything from your home.

If you would like to send a care package, you will need to contact the facility to gain permission.

Phone calls

All phone calls that an inmate makes will be recorded. Inmates are limited to 300 minutes a month. Inmates can purchase said minutes from the prison commissary.

Visitation

Offenders in the Danbury Federal Prison are only allowed to have visits with their family and friends on the weekends from 8 am to 3 pm. The visitation schedule is the same for the camp and the main campus as well.

You will need to get to the facility prior to 2 pm to be permitted to visit on that day.

All offenders are only allowed to have up to 5 visitors during their visitation session. All visitors over the age of 16 will be required to show their government issued photo identification card such as their driver’s license to be permitted into the visitation area.
