Broward Bridge, located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is the state contact office for Broward County Jail. Built-in 2010, Broward County Jail is a multi-level security jail that houses males, females, and juveniles. There are 96 beds in this facility. It is approximately 57,000 square feet.

The mission of the Broward County Jail is to provide a safe and secure environment for all who enter the jail and for the citizens of the communities. Broward County Jail provides a well-run facility with highly trained and dedicated correctional staff. Inmates are provided with through a variety of programs, education, and accountability to rehabilitate and to assist their re-entry into the community.

This is a direct supervision jail, which means the correctional officers are in the housing units with the inmates and interact with them. There are two to three inmates per cell.

A’Viand’s Food and Services Management is the company that Broward County Jail contracts for meals. Kitchen staff and Jail trustees help prepare the meals for the inmates. Inmates may also buy snacks from the commissary.

There is one full-time nurse and a doctor who are available 4 hours per week. MeND Correctional Care provides inmates with a mental health professional.

The Broward County Jail offers a variety of opportunities for inmates who are interested in advancing their education, with such programs as Adult Basic Education, computer/writing classes and options to obtain a GED.

For recreation, there are also a variety of activities within the facility such as movie nights, theatre presentations, and game tournaments. Inmates are encouraged to participate in daily activity each day. They are allowed to go outside for several hours a day to play sports or exercise.

Alcoholics Anonymous, “Set Free” Christian treatment program, and Teen Challenge informational meetings are available for inmates who struggle with substance abuse Weekly church services and spiritual counseling are available for all inmates.
