The Florida State Prison is a maximum security facility for males in Orlando, Florida, housing up to 1550 inmates. Until 1980, the Florida State Prison was the site for those on death row and currently holds some of the most dangerous criminals in the state of Florida. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was held at this prison back in 1960.

Inmates can learn many vocational and trade skills that can prepare them for success after incarceration. Florida State Prison also provides counseling and Bible studies for those that wish to attend.

How to Find an Inmate

There are databases online to help you find an inmate, and is available to anyone. You just need some basic information and what state they are being held in. VINELink is another great method for tracking down an inmate if they were transported to another facility.

Visiting Information

Visitation hours are on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9am to 3pm. No personal belongings will be allowed on you during your visit.

Communication Options

Inmates can send emails

Inmates can send messages to friends and family. Inmates that are in the Orlando Community Release Center can have access to messaging if they have enough money in their trust accounts. Messaging an inmate is one of the cheapest ways to get in touch with an inmate.

Let the inmate call you

Inmates are able to make prepaid calls or collect calls at this facility.  Prison calls can be placed during non-work hours from Monday through Friday, and typically last 15 minutes, or a 30 minute maximum. At no time can an inmate receive an incoming call. If there is an emergency such as a death in the family, contact the prison chaplain, where they can pass that information on to the inmate.

Write letters to the inmate

You are able to send mail to inmates at the prison, just remember that all mail will be inspected to avoid any contraband from entering the facilities. You are able to mail up to 5 pictures no larger than 4×6, while no nudity is tolerated.
