The main purpose of the Marion County Jail is to provide a safe, humane, and secure environment for the inmates, but also for the staff members, and the visitors of the facility. The facility runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The correctional officers in the facility ensure that all inmates are treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
All correctional officers that are employed in the Marion County Jail will be fully certified and fully trained by the State of Kansas to ensure they understand the safety, mental health, and medical risks involved with this position.
The Marion County Jail is responsible for the long-term and short-term care of all sentenced and non-sentenced inmates, work release inmates, and another periodic imprisonment.
The Marion County Jail has a commissary, which is also commonly known as the canteen. In the commissary, inmates can purchase items such as entertainment, snacks, beverages, and a variety of other items. Inmates will be required to put in their order prior to Tuesday at 10 PM. Every commissary order will be delivered by Thursday.
Inmates will also have the ability to use the showers, have personal hygiene products, three meals a day, medical care, and mental health care.
