This facility is commanded by the Jail Administer, Captin Andy Eason. 16 Sergeants and 5 lieutenants also provide additional supervision twenty-four hours every day of the year. Inmates that are held in the Essex County Jail have committed a felony or misdemeanor crimes that are either serving their sentence or awaiting trial. Others have committed a felony and are waiting to be transported to a state or federal prison to finish serving their sentence.
