The Parnall Correctional Facility is located in Jackson, Michigan. The Parnall Correctional Facility is under the careful operation and management of the Michigan Department of Corrections. The Michigan Department of Corrections is responsible for ensuring that the Parnall Correctional Facility is meeting all state and national standards.
The Parnall Correctional Facility is home to both female and male juveniles. When the facility first opened it was called the Boys Training Center. The Boys Training Center was founded back in 1926. It was established by the Act of the Legislature. After a very tedious investigation by the legislative committee decided to select a site, which happened to be a farm. It was then purchased in the Jackson area for $9,000. The Boys Training Center was made for the rehabilitation and education of juvenile male inmates.
Then in 1876, the Stevens School closed their doors. The Stevens School was the facility that was housing juvenile female inmates. These juvenile female inmates were then transferred to the Boys Training Center, which was now known as the Michigan Youth Center.
Later down the line, the Michigan Youth Center got renamed as the Parnall Correctional Facility. As of late, the Parnall Correctional Facility can house up to 163 juvenile male and juvenile female inmates. The Long Creek Youth Development employs around 185 staff members.
The Parnall Correctional Facility continues to offer its juveniles a variety of programs that will help them as they go through their rehabilitation treatment plan. The programs are run by a multi-disciplined team, who are committed to ensuring these programs are top-notch for their juveniles.
The Parnall Correctional Facility also one big educational rehabilitative resource within the state of Michigan. In this area, the facility will not only be in custody of the juvenile but also provide the juvenile with the security and care that they deserve.
