The Northeast Correctional Center opened its doors back in 2010. The Northeast Correctional Center is just one of ten units that make up Missouri State Prison Complex Bowling Green Complex. The Missouri State Prison Complex Bowling Green Complex houses various security levels within these ten units. Overall, the Missouri Department of Corrections is not only responsible for Northeast Correctional Center, but they are also responsible for 12 other state facilities situated throughout the state.

Here in the Northeast Correctional Center, it’s a two-yard facility. A two-yard facility means they can house two different security levels. Currently the Northeast Correctional Center houses level 3s and level 4s. These are middle of the road inmates. All inmates here at Northeast Correctional Center are male inmates. Female inmates are not housed in this unit.

However, here at the Northeast Correctional Center, they offer a unique, special program known as the PRison Inner Peace Program. The Prison Inner Peace Program began in 1998 in the Echo Unit by Richard Wirta and Michael Todd. The Prison Inner Peace Program was responsible Thomas L. Magnuson, who was the Psych Associate II. The Prison Inner Peace Program brought many results. Majority of the inmates who participated in the program were less likely to re-offend when they were released.
