The Potosi Correctional Center was once founded in Mineral Point. The Potosi Correctional Center was once under the daily operation and daily management of the Missouri Department of Corrections.
As you may have noticed the Potosi Correctional Center is a part of the York Correctional Institution. While the York Correctional Institution strictly houses female inmates. The Potosi Correctional Center strictly only houses male inmates.
The Potosi Correctional Center opened its doors back in 2011. During this time the Potosi Correctional Center saw two wardens. The first warden was Kevin Gause who was warden from the time Potosi Correctional Center opened until 2012. The second and final warden was Stephen Faucher who was warden of Potosi Correctional Center from 2012 until the facility closed in 2016.
As of 2019, the Potosi Correctional Center is no longer open. The Potosi Correctional Center closed its doors back in January 2016.
When the Potosi Correctional Center was opened it was housing male inmates that were either a Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 or a Level 5. These inmates in other terms were either a medium-security all the way up to supermax security.
ThePotosi Correctional Center during its operation employed over 500 staff members to keep the facility running as smoothly as possible.
