The Evergreen Rehabilitation Center – Robeson, located in Robeson County North Carolina, is a truly unique and revolutionary concept for bridging the gap between a standard correctional facility and a new concept to bring youth back into the arms of society.
This is a full-on correctional program for youth, rather than simply a place to house offenders as they serve time. The program lasts three months, and is split into three two months segments — all of which have a strong military flavor that seeks to instill the discipline, self-confidence, and respect necessary to be a productive member of society.
During the first two months of the program, “cadets” as inmates are referred to are not allowed to have visitors, and they are not allowed phone calls. Although this may seem extreme, this is part of a larger process designed to change the behavior of offenders for the long term, and reduce the possibility of recidivism and a life of crime.
