Polk County Jail goal is to provide a secure, safe, healthy and clean environment through a structured program for the residents. The residents’ needs are assessed through the integration of Academic, Mental Health, Medical, Programs and Security practices.
Polk County Jail is for juveniles from the ages of 10 – 17 that have been court ordered. This facility also provides a program for male juveniles for the ages of 16 – 20, who are committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice and are participating in our Community Placement Program.
Polk County Jail is a 40-bed facility. Every resident has their own single room, which includes a window, bunk, toilet, and sink assigned to them.
Typically juveniles that are held in Polk County Jail whether they have been adjudicated guilty of an offense or are still awaiting adjudication of an offense are held for about 30 days or less. In 2014 the average length of stay in the fiscal year was 23 days.
The residents in this facility are kept busy with activities such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and four-square, board games, letter writing and reading.
