The prison has four dormitories and a medical building. The officers at Arrendale are still transitioning from one of the most violent prisons in New Jersey to a general purpose women’s prison.

The Central Reception and Assignment Facility also houses a small percentage of high-security inmates. Inmates in the Central Reception and Assignment Facility are either under solitary confinement or Administrative Segregation. All inmates that are in Administrative Segregation will be in their cells 23-hours out of the day. However, as of current, solitary confinement is not allowed anymore within the prison system, so the Central Reception and Assignment Facility now will permit the inmates to leave their cells to get some yard time. This started back in 2012.
They are given three meals a day—all meals are approved by a dietician. Inmates are given recreation time outside each day where they can exercise.

The administration at this facility is apprehensive of the rights and entitlements of all CRC commitments.
