The groundbreaking of the Children’s Village – Dobbs Ferry NY occurred on March 20th of 1994. In December of 1995 is when the construction of this facility was completed. On January of was when the official dedication of SCI Dobbs Ferry NY was held.
On August 8 of 1997, the construction of two other buildings was started and was finished in October of 1998. In August of 2010, the construction of a 150-bed modular housing unit was started and was finished and was opened in August of 2011. This housing unit has is made up of two dormitory-style units that include a day room in the middle. There is a total of 34 buildings within this facility. This facility was constructed to reduce overcrowding in state prisons.
