The Florida Parishes Juvenile Justice Commission was created by La. R.S. 5:094.. There are eight commissioners who develop, administer and manage the affairs of the district within the Florida Parishes Juvenile Justice Commission. The commissioners meet monthly at the Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center and they do not receive a salary.
There were several expansions done since the Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center first opened. The first expansion included a multi-purpose area/gym, 4 classrooms as well as 74 additional beds and was completed in 999.
The Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center had its second expansion completed in 20 that brought up their bed count up to 33 beds. The expansion also included additional classrooms, staff offices, and dayroom.
