The Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for overseeing any and all duties that have to consist with the Armstrong County Jail. The Armstrong County Jail is nestled in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
In August of 2003, the Armstrong County Jail opened their doors. When the facility opened their doors they could house up to 158 inmates at any given time.
The main mission at the Armstrong County Jail is to provide a safe, humane, and secure place for inmates, visitors and staff members. Staff members will go through continuous training to ensure they are up to date on all protocols.
The three people on the Prison Board in Armstrong County Jail is William Rupert, the sheriff of Armstrong County; Katie Charlton, the District Attorney; alongside Pat Fabian, the commissioner. Rupert is the president, Charlton is the vice president and Fabian is the secretary.
Inmates in the Armstrong County Jail are either waiting for their trial to start or inmates who are currently serving their sentence. Inmates will only be held in the facility if they have a sentence of two years or less. If an inmate has a sentence longer than two years, they will be sent to prison within Pennsylvania.
