Just like the other eight units that compose the Pennsylvania State Prison Complex Lewis, the Renewal Inc is situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is the main point of contact to how the Renewal Inc is operated on a daily basis.
As a level 3 state facility, the Renewal Inc is a pretty relaxed facility from the inmate’s point of view. The Renewal Inc is an all-exclusive male facility. No females are housed in this facility as the same with juveniles.
The Renewal Inc will have a common area, where they have xboxes they can play on. However, the games that go along with these xboxes are not a first-person shooter or even teen rated games. These games are child games, but nonetheless fun for the inmates to play.
In this common area, they do have televisions for inmates to watch television on along with tables for inmates to play cards, puzzles, or any other family-friendly game.
If you would like to visit an inmate, you will need to fill out the following application. Every state facility in Pennsylvania, require this application to be filled out. This application is for phone calls AND visitation. Even if your inmate is being transferred from one unit to the next, you will need to fill out the application again to gain that privilege at the current facility. The application can take up to 3 weeks to hear for the phone call portion and 60 days before you hear anything about the visitation. In order to ensure your application is processed in a timely manner, you will want to send in your $25 money order with the application, as that is required before they can process your application.
