Wernersville Community Corrections Center is a minimum-security prison located five miles southeast of Wernersville on 2,089 acres. The facility also serves as a work camp providing inmate labor to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, other state and local agencies, and private industries throughout the county. The Warden at this prison is Jeff Premo.
Inmates at Wernersville Community Corrections Center are placed according to their custody level which is determined at intake. The mission of this facility is to prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never return to prison and thus lower Pennsylvania’s recidivism rate.
The capacity of this prison is around 300 adult male inmates. All inmates at Wernersville Community Corrections Center are provided medical, dental and mental health services on site. Inmates live in dormitories on campus that resemble a school more than a prison. There is much less supervision of inmate movement within the prison than at any other custody level.
All inmates who are incarcerated at Wernersville Community Corrections Center are expected to work. Offenders are encouraged to take adult basic education courses or work towards obtaining a GED if they do not possess a high school diploma. Inmates who are nearing their discharge date and are within 120 days of release can elect to participate in re-entry programming that helps prepare the inmate for release.

Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are among the substance abuse programs available to inmates. Meetings with Clergy and Bible studies are also available. Inmates are allowed recreation time each day where they can go outside and exercise or play sports.
Inmates at this facility are fed three meals a day, and they can purchase snacks from the commissary. All meals are approved by a dietician.
