Visiting the Inmate
Visitation is encouraged for inmates because inmates who stay in contact with their families outside the detention center have been proven to be more likely to be rehabilitated.

Saturday 7:30 Am to 2:30 PM
The facility is closed to visitors on holidays.
There are some strict guidelines that visitors need to follow in and around the jail. These rules are there to ensure the safety of inmates, officials, and visitors.
The maximum amount of visits that an inmate can receive is one visit per week. There cannot be more than three visitors per visit. This is including children and toddlers.
There are some items that are considered contraband in the person of visitors who visit the detention center. Some of such items are:
Cell phones, radios, tape recorders, MP3 or CD players, electronic tablets, computers, etc.
Tobacco products, lighters, and matches
Baby strollers and all other types of baby bags or purses. Food, drink, candy, gum, are also prohibited.
Also prohibited are Weapons of any kind, pocket knives, box cutters, pepper spray, or any illegal contraband
Tools, fingernail clippers, hair picks, combs, brushes, lipstick, etc.
Books, magazines, newspapers, toys, games, umbrellas are also strictly prohibited.
Dress code
There is a specified dress code for all inmates. The following kinds of clothing are therefore highly prohibited.
Tank tops, tube tops, low cut tops or dresses. Shorts must be knee-length. Mini skirts are prohibited etc. (Any clothing item deemed inappropriate by staff).
The Visitation week runs from Monday through Sunday. Visiting times, however, differ depending on when the visitor decides to visit.
Inmates are not allowed to own cell phones or receive calls. But there are facilities owned Jones for their use If they wish to call out of the prison.
Inmates may even make collect, prepaid collect, or prepaid calling card calls from the phones available. Inmates can talk for 20-minutes. After that, the call will automatically end.
Commissary and Money Sending
Inmates may occasionally need to obtain items that are not made available by the county jail. These items will be available at the jail store at the Chippewa County Juvenile Detention Center. The store is called commissary.
Inmates will be able to purchase items such as clothes, shoes, hygiene products, books, paper, pencils, stamps, envelopes, MP3 players, headphones, tablets (no internet), snacks, and other items they may want.
Inmates need to have money in their accounts in order to buy these items. The inmates or their families can out the money in their accounts for them.
There are kiosks at strategic places throughout the Chippewa County Juvenile Detention Center lobby. You can put money on an inmate’s account at any time throughout the week. VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and cash are accepted at these machines. You can also send cash to the prisoner in the mail. No checks will be accepted.
The Chippewa County Juvenile Detention Center is a county jail. Some prisoners who have not been sentenced may be bonded out. Bonds can be posted at any time of the day.
