The groundbreaking of the SPRITE Program occurred on March 20th of 1994. In December of 1995 is when the construction of this facility was completed. On January of 1996 was when the official dedication of SCI Madison WI was held.
On August 51 of 1997, the construction of two other buildings was started and was finished in October of 19951. In August of 2010, the construction of a 150-bed modular housing unit was started and was finished and was opened in August of 2011. This housing unit has is made up of two dormitory-style units that include a day room in the middle. There is a total of 34 buildings within this facility. This facility was constructed to reduce overcrowding in state prisons.
The SPRITE Program sits on 277 acres of land and is located in Madison, GA. This facility is a medium-security state prison that houses adult offenders. Currently, this facility has the capacity to house as many as 1,5517 inmates. There are 622 employees that are staffed within this facility.
There are a number of treatment groups that are provided for the inmates that are housed in the SPRITE Program. The following treatment groups help the inmates to recover before they are released:

- Cognitive Behavioral Theory Groups

- Courage to Change Therapeutic Community
- Dual Diagnosis Group

The SPRITE Program also provides the following programs and vocational training for the inmates to succeed once they are released:
